First — We Take a Proper Look
Before anything is touched, our dentist takes a dental X-ray. This shows us exactly where the roots are, how the tooth is sitting in the bone, and what approach will be safest. We don't just go in and pull. Every extraction at Dr. A & T Dental Experts starts with proper planning.
Then — We Numb the Area Completely
Local anesthesia is given around the tooth. The injection itself takes a few seconds. Once it works — and we always wait until it does — you will not feel pain. You'll feel pressure, maybe some movement. But not pain. That's an important difference.
Then — The Tooth Is Removed
How this happens depends on the tooth:
- Simple extraction — For teeth that are fully visible and accessible. The dentist loosens the tooth gently and lifts it out. Most of the time, this takes less than 10 minutes once you're properly numb.
- Surgical extraction — For wisdom teeth, broken teeth, or teeth stuck under the gum. A small cut is made in the gum to reach the tooth. Sometimes the tooth is divided into smaller pieces for safer, easier removal. It takes a little longer, but you stay comfortable throughout.
After the Tooth Is Out
A clean gauze pad is placed on the empty socket. You bite down on it gently. This helps stop the bleeding and lets the clot form — which is how healing begins. In some cases, a small stitch is placed to close the area.
